Recent Events

Just to bring this blog up to date as there have been some significant events which I'd like to record before they are forgotten.

Firstly the matter of furniture. You may recall I mentioned that our existing furniture will not fit in the Coral Park unit. Most of the furniture will stay in the house and form part of the sale. This left us with the daunting task of finding and buying replacement furniture in a more modest size. We decided for a number of reasons to buy it here in Moruya and eventually ship it to Coral Park as part of our regular removal. Jenny had a lovely time and eventually assembled a comprehensive array. Some needed to be ordered in, most was floor stock and in some cases discontinued items. The store agreed to hold onto these items until we were ready to call it forward. Fantastic. Although we could have stored it here we were still in the process of clearing stuff out. Good for us and OK for them as they would need to make only one delivery. A significant down-payment was made on the spot and we left totally relaxed and happy.

Last Friday night there was a massive fire in a local warehouse. You guessed it. Most of the 'floor stock' items had been stored there and were now lost for ever. We contacted them on the Monday morning to find out if our worst fears were correct and they suggested we come in and discuss ways and means. At a time which must have been extremely stressful for them they were apologetic, helpful and totally accommodating offering alternatives to what we had lost. They will do everything they can to ensure that the total package will be assembled before we move.

Just over a week ago I contacted a removals company with a depot in the Canberra Area. I figured that if things went wrong with the timing and the Coral Park unit wasn't ready, it would be better to have our stuff in the Canberra Area so that we could call it forward promptly. A number of emails back and forth with their National Office in Sydney and we'd worked out a quote, calculated an Insurance Value and set a date for the uplift. 15 July is the target date. Bit of a gamble if things don't go as smoothly as I've planned but it will be easier to delay the uplift than to bring it forward. We'll just have to keep updating them as events unfold.

On a less significant note, I've booked another cruise. Princess Cruise D614A - 26 Days - Asia/Orient- Australia & Asia on the Dawn Princess Embarkation July 5, 2016 / Perth (Fremantle); Disembarkation July 31, 2016 / Perth (Fremantle). Price is right and it will be a great way to avoid the Canberra Winter Chills for almost a month. Four hours each was on a local flight is much easier to cope with too.

Wishing you good health and safe travel.
Have a great day and stay well.
